Yesterday was eyes, today it's ears. He failed his hearing test again. The audiologist noted his right ear canal looked blocked, so I made an appt. with the EENT doc for next Fri. They will hopefully clean out his ear and make sure his tube is still in (praying it is so we don't have to go through another surgery). After whatever it is, is fixed, we'll have a repeat hearing test, but one a bit more "accurate" that requires him to be "tired". If he STILL fails that one, they'll do the sleeping one where they monitor his brain waves when he hears sounds. If after ALL that he has still failed his hearing test, we will see what sound frequencies he can't hear and that will decide if he needs a hearing aid or not.
Right now he can't hear tones and some speech. If we can get him to the point where he can hear most speech we won't get the hearing aids I don't think, not if it's only tones he is having trouble with. But if it is in the speech area that he is still having difficulty in, then he'll get a hearing aid/aids.
Not what I wanted to hear, but in comparison to so many other issues he could have it's small potatoes, know what I mean? So, we'll get this taken care of and get him some glasses. Hopefully it will all make a difference for him.
While we were out in Henrietta (suburb of Roch., not near us, but has lots of stores) we went to Ollie's (it's a discount store). I got Anah her first young children's bible and a bible cover, Precious Moments, so cute! Now she'll be able to carry her own bible to church each week just like we all do. I'll also put some paper and crayons in there for her since she likes to draw during the services. She is such a good girl during service! She just sits there and draws, never makes a peep and we sit right up front! I'm so proud of her! She doesn't like to go with the children, she likes to stay with us, and that's fine, the sooner she gets used to staying upstairs the better. Joey stays with us too. Jonathan is the only one who goes downstairs to the nursery and that's usually after worship and prayer. Sometimes he can sit for some of the service, other times he's too restless and it's distracting for everyone behind us, so I bring him down. But considering he's a "baby" (at least developmentally) he does a great job too! Can you tell I'm proud of my children!?
Oh, while we were at Ollie's I also got some homeschooling things for Anah. They had a little package of preschool things, color board pin up, flip chart for alphabet, pin up for alphabet, a book of learning activities, a wipe off letter line for her to write on with wipe off markers, some stickers and a few other things, a really good deal for only $10. If I bought those things individually at the teacher store it would be a lot more than that! I also got her some basic math and basic english books, $.99 each, can't beat that. I've been naming things, colors, letters, numbers etc. as we go through our day since I first got her, but starting next week I'm going to get her desk out and "OFFICIALLY" start homeschooling Anah. She seems to have a pretty good understanding of what we are saying most of the time.
That's all for now, just wanted to update while I remembered, we're off to bible study, be well and be blessed.
