We met our new homeschool co-op friends today. They all seem very nice. I got to meet the little girl with DS, she's 15 and her name is Miki (Meekee). She was so happy to meet "someone special like you" (her Mom introduced her to Jonathan). Her Mom pointed out the Cemean(spelling) crease in her hand and Jonathan's, she was so excited! Other than her brother,(she has an older brother with DS) I'm not sure how many other people she's met with DS. Her Mom then introduced her to me as Jonathan's Mommy and Anah's Mommy "you know, the little girl that is special like you that I was telling you about". How sweet to have someone so excited to meet my daughter! Miki is a darling, gentle child and I'm sure she and Anah will be fast friends!
I got Joey's science books in the mail today, next week we'll start to study the first chapter before co-op on Friday. I'm anxious to see how this will work for him. It was too bad it was so rainy and muddy today! UGH, Joey got in the van covered in mud! Of course, he had to take his coat off and put it inside out on the seat so he didn't get it covered in mud. His white sneakers are white no more...sigh.
We finally got the medicaid application for Jonathan in the mail, along with the information for the financial waiver. A lady from Continuing Developmental Services is coming out Tuesday to help me fill it out the way the county wants it filled out, so it will go through this time. There are certain things they like done a certain way...gee whiz, you think if you fill it in that's sufficient, but apparently they have some idiosyncrasies. I'd much rather she come out and help me do it, than to have it turned down. It's been 10 months already! At least I'll know what to do when Anah comes home.
