I just had Jonathan's 6mos IFSP meeting. It was with his service coordinator Miss Amy and his OT Miss Kelly. I'm not sure how these meetings usually go for most people, but I'm definitely blessed that mine are easy and uneventful. If I ask for an increase in any service or want to add a service, I get it. Maybe it's because I don't ask for much, maybe it's because they know Jonathan needs what I ask for, maybe it's because they are nice, or maybe all of the above. But I do know that it is definitely because I pray about it ahead of time.
I ask God to be with us during the meeting and for Jonathan to receive the services he needs. I'm always so blessed when his therapists/coordinators are pleasantly surprised at everything he does. They feel he is making great progress quickly and I tend to agree. I know so much of it is love! This child of my heart is loved so dearly! Not just by me, but by everyone in our home, all our family and all our friends. He is accepted and cherished for the gift of God he is. Sometimes I am overwhelmed with joy to be entrusted with this wonderful blessing that is Jonathan!I'm going to try add a couple of pics, we'll see how it goes. Ok, well I guess the pics posted at the top, that's ok, at least they got loaded, lol.
Today we had to discuss Jonathan's transition to the preschool age since he'll be 3 in Jan. I was concerned since I won't send him to school and I want services in the home. I needn't have worried, at least not at this stage of the game. Both Miss Amy and Miss Kelly were very supportive and encouraged me to just explain that to the school system from the start at the initial pre-evaluation meeting. I will be able to continue services with the preschool we have now for IE. I was very happy to hear that. He will be able to continue with his therapists until he's five! Of course, that all depends on the school system, but from the sound of his therapist, who is familiar with the school district, it shouldn't be a problem.
The IFSP meeting with therapy was from 9-10:15, now I'm waiting for his Early Intervention teacher to come from 11-12, after that he'll be more than ready for his nap! I'm going to list the services Jonathan gets and I would love to hear back from other Moms if it sounds typical to your experiences. Thanks in advance!
This is what Jonathan gets weekly: 1hr of PT, 1 hr of OT, 2hrs of EI and we will be starting 1hr of ST. They come to our home, which I LOVE. I can't imagine having more than that, I don't know where we'd fit it in! Of course I don't feel he needs more, or I would definitely ask for it, but we are all faithful to continue with the therapies on a day to day basis, so I guess that makes a difference. So won't you let me know what your children receive, so I can get a rough idea if I'm on track? Thanks again and have a blessed day.
