As many of you know, may remember, Jonathan has sensory issues. They have improved with time, but he still has/had quite a few oral/tactical issues. He doesn't like dry textured food like crackers or cereal, so no goldfish crackers for this boy!
Yesterday I got him to start eating cereal with milk! I guess as long as it's a bit "wet" he'll go for it now.
He is chewing, REAL chewing! Not a whole lot and certainly not anything other than small pieces of easy to go down food, but he chewing! He seems to only chew on the left side, no matter if we place the food in the right side of his mouth or have him bite at that side of his mouth, he moves it over to the left side with his tongue. I'm wondering if that isn't just how his tongue works at this time. Hopeful it will progress to the right side soon!
Today he picked up a piece of omelet with his hand and put it in his mouth!!! We've been working on him touching food, which he has always hated! When we finally got him to pick it up, he would just throw it away from him. Today he picked it up and put it in his mouth! I can't tell you how excited we all were. We were clapping and hooraying all over the house, lol. He ate more than a one egg omelet that way! We did try putting the food on a plate, we had a flying saucer. So for now, the food just goes on the table in front of him! He had a piece of danish for dessert and ate all that by himself too. We can only put one piece in front of him at a time or he gets overwhelmed and just throws it, but hey, what progress! Can you tell we're excited?! My 19 yo commented/laughed that it's amazing how excited we get when Jonathan does one "little" thing. Of course he was the one sitting next to him feeding him and he clapped and hoorayed the loudest ;o) .

YEAH Jonathan! It's amazing he is doing it with different textures too! Yes, each little thing is worth celebrating...sometimes we only celebrate "big" things but miss daily joy in the little things!
