Today is my husband and my 6th anniversary. In some ways it feels like we have always been married. He is truly my one and only. He loves me with all my flaws, and believe me, there are plenty! He married me knowing I was disabled and that he would have to help with a lot of the housework and knowing that some days I need to spend many hours in bed due to pain and exhaustion. That is one of the major reasons before we got married Bob decided to "stay retired". He has retired from the US Navy and gets a pension, so we have committed to live off of that and my disability. That's the reason it's so difficult for us to raise funds for adoption, we have enough to live on, but to come up with thousands of dollars at a time is close to impossible. Of course, NOTHING is impossible for God, that's why when He called we listened and stepped out in faith to adopt Jonathan and Anah.
It is such a blessing for both of us to be home. Not only for my sake, but that of the children, they get the benefit of a loving father who always has time for them. I know that's not possible with most people, so believe me, we don't take it for granted, we know we are blessed. It's a huge blessing to Bob because he wasn't around much when his daughter was little so he is really enjoying Jonathan's stage and the rocking him to sleep. If we weren't married, I wouldn't be able to adopt more children because I can't know when I will be feeling poorly and fatigue and stress exacerbate my Lupus, so with my darling home I can rest whenever I need and I'm not stressed.
We plan on going out to dinner and to see Fireproof together for our anniversary, I can't wait. When we got married six years ago we had no idea we would be adding more children, let alone two with DS. It had always been a dream of mine, but I felt I was too old and then once I was a single mom I thought my dreams were no longer possible. What a blessing to find my soul mate and that he would feel like I did. Of course, I guess being a soul mate, he would have to have similar dreams :o) .
Happy anniversary my Beloved.
