Had Jonathan's EIP (early intervention plan) meeting this am. In NY children get services until the September AFTER they turn 3. Jonathan turns 3 in Jan, but will continue with the county's services until then. After that point the school system is responsible for preschool all the way through graduation.

I wasn't sure how this meeting would go, or what was actually involved. Our current service coordinator (SC) was there, I was there, I brought Jonathan and the school Pupil Personal Coordinator (PPC) was there (a fill in for each of them as one had a meeting and one was sick). The PPC reviewed Jonathan's records, gave me some releases to sign regarding their ability to get info., from the SC, service provider (SP) and Jonathan's medical doctor. I have papers to fill out (big surprise) regarding his development and they will gather the other info. As it appears at this time, they are quite happy to continue in this manner, but will of course need reevaluated on going.

I am glad we got off to a good start. I made it very clear that I will continue to homeschool Jonathan and Anah when she gets her. I believe they can see that I don't want "too much" but that I definitely know what my child does need and take a very active role in that decision making. So far so good, but then again, it's only the beginning. Praying it stays this way always.
